Pretty Girls Who Serve

Membership Welcome Ceremony · a guide for chapter leaders and Prepared sisters

ThePouring.

The ceremony where the sisterhood welcomes a Becoming sister as a new P31 member. Her worth was settled in Christ long before this day; The Pouring celebrates the yes she has said. Here is the road that leads to it, every role, every word, and everything you need on the table, so every chapter welcomes the same way.

Pretty Girls Who Serve is a Christ-centered women's ministry and sisterhood, not a sorority or a secret society. Nothing we do is secret: every tradition can be explained to anyone who asks, and family and friends are welcome. And none of it saves anyone or earns God's love. Only Jesus does that. Our traditions celebrate a yes she has already said to Him.

The Becoming Season: the road to the Pouring.

Nobody is poured the day she walks in. A woman is seen, welcomed and paired; she becomes rooted, makes her covenant and serves; then she is prepared, and then she is poured.

  1. 01
    She is seen

Pretty Girl Week. She meets the chapter.

  2. 02
    She is welcomed

    Who: The chapter
  3. 03
    She says yes

She activates her $25 PGWS national membership through the P31 Portal (that is what puts her on the official roster), signs the Sisterhood Book and joins the national GroupMe. She is now a Becoming sister.

  4. 04
    She is paired

The Membership Chair pairs her with a Prepared sister, her mentor, and gives her a Prayer Sister for the season.

  5. 05
    She becomes rooted

The P31 Becoming Academy, and the Sisterhood training: she learns the Creed, the Commitment, the Call to Order, the hymn, our names and our symbols.

Who: Her, with her Prepared sister
  6. 06
    She makes her covenant

She signs the P31 Covenant at prettygirlswhoserve.org/covenant: the Esther Funds Foundation’s Bylaws and Code of Conduct, the PGWS Member Covenant, and how we carry the name, understanding that misrepresenting PGWS or EFF can lead to removal, with a fair process.

Who: Her, with her Prepared sister
  7. 07
    She serves

She serves beside the chapter at a Service Saturday before her Pouring.

  8. 08
    She is prepared

Her Prepared sister gives her a Season Scripture. In the last week, sisters write her Perfumed Letters, which her Prepared sister keeps for the Preparation Room.

Five signs she is ready

  • Her $25 national membership is active.
  • She has finished the P31 Becoming Academy and the Sisterhood training.
  • She has signed the P31 Covenant.
  • She has served at a Service Saturday.
  • Her Prepared sister says she is ready.

Her invitation, two weeks ahead

  • The date, time and place, and how long it lasts.
  • What to wear (Nationals sets the dress code).
  • A private question: any allergy or sensitivity to fragrance or oils?
  • Guests are welcome; the Preparation Room is for sisters only.

The week of the Pouring

  • Rehearse every part with every role, using this page’s rehearsal mode.
  • Count the materials for the size of the class.
  • The Scribe writes each new sister’s name in the program and readies The Book.
  • Prepared sisters collect the Perfumed Letters.
  • Ask permission before any photo or video of a sister is posted.

Seen, welcomed and rooted come from the PGWS member journey (Pretty Girl Week, the Pink Brunch, the P31 Becoming Academy); the $25 national membership is PGWS’s roster rule. The other steps are drafted from our traditions for Nationals to confirm.

On the table for 4 sisters

Tap what you have. Keep spares: a pin, a rose and a taper more than you need.

The order of service. Every part, every time.

Seventeen parts. Nothing may be left out. Keep The Pouring and The Pinning unhurried: they are the moments she’ll remember forever.

≈ 49 minutes for a class of 4, after the Preparation Room. Your guide: 45–60 minutes depending on class size; testimonies, dancers and music add to it.
  1. Each Prepared sister brings her Becoming sister forward. The Chaplain places a drop of oil of myrrh on the new sister’s hands. Her mentor says quietly: “You are prepared, and you are blessed.” This is the heart of the ceremony — unhurried, one sister at a time.

  2. The Presider pins the Ruby Reminder over each new sister’s heart: “Not because you are a ruby — but to remind you that you are worth far more than one.” Her mentor drapes the satin stole and hands her a white rose.

You may add, never take away

Sisters may also share their P31 experience and testimonies, and chapters may have dancers or special music. Add them between parts; everything above must still be done.

Holy, warm, and always safe.

The Pouring is a welcome, not a test.

PGWS non-negotiableNo hazing, humiliation, forced prayer, loyalty tests, secret punishments, or unofficial initiation practices.

Invitations, never tests

Nothing in the Becoming Season is secret, humiliating, or used to rank sisters. If a sister can’t finish a step in time, her Prepared sister walks with her to the next Pouring.

Her hands, her yes

The oil goes on her hands only. If she has a sensitivity, the Chaplain lays a hand over hers and prays the words without oil.

The scent is offered

At the First Act of Service, spray the wrist or the stole if she prefers. Ask before, not during.

Testimony is a gift

No one is asked to tell her story. Sisters who want to share, share.

Candles and satin

Keep tapers upright and away from stoles and hair; a sister holds a snuffer and water nearby. Follow the venue’s fire rules (some campuses allow only battery candles).

Photos with permission

Ask before posting any sister’s image, name or testimony.

The non-negotiable is from the PGWS Chapter Launch & Leadership Manual. The care notes are recommended practice drafted by EFF for Nationals to confirm.

Rehearse it the week of.

One part at a time on a phone or a projector, in big type: who moves, what happens, and every word. Use ← → or tap.

Print it. Share her day.

Built from the plan in part III. Each prints on its own.

A welcome card for each new P31

For her story on the day she is poured: “Officially a Pretty P31 woman. 💧🩷” with her name, the chapter and the date. Send it to her after the ceremony.

Add the class’s names in part III and a card button appears for each sister.

Ready to pour?

Seven questions for everyone with a role. 0 of 7.

1. Who places the drop of oil on her hands?
2. What does her mentor say at The Pouring?
3. What is pinned over her heart?
4. Which part may be skipped if the program runs long?
5. A Becoming sister has a fragrance allergy. What happens at The Pouring?
6. A Becoming sister has done everything but sign the P31 Covenant. Is she ready for The Pouring?
7. Which hand sign does the sisterhood flash at The Welcome?

“six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours”

Esther 2:12 (KJV)
