Can’t afford the book your class requires?

  1. Ask the library about course reserves. Many campus libraries keep a copy of required textbooks you can borrow for a few hours at a time.
  2. Ask your professor. “Is an older edition okay?” often saves most of the cost. Write the email.
  3. Ask financial aid about a book advance. Some schools let you charge books to your aid before it pays out.
